From Greece to China: Exploring New Opportunities at Papoutsanis

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the production facilities of Papoutsanis, one of Greece's most historic and internationally recognized manufacturers of soaps and personal care products. Founded in 1870, Papoutsanis has evolved from a traditional Greek soap producer into one of Europe's leading manufacturers of soaps, liquid cosmetics, hotel amenities, and private-label products, with a strong export presence worldwide.

Walking through the factory was an impressive experience. Beyond the modern production lines and advanced manufacturing processes, what stood out most was the combination of innovation, quality, and a long industrial tradition that has been built over more than 150 years. Today, the company exports to dozens of international markets and continues to invest in technology, research, and international partnerships.

Our discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation with China, a market that continues to offer significant potential for high-quality consumer products, personal care brands, hotel amenities, and manufacturing partnerships. As someone who has lived and worked in China for many years, I firmly believe that there are valuable opportunities to connect leading Greek manufacturers with the world's second-largest economy.

China is increasingly interested in premium, safe, and authentic international products. At the same time, Chinese companies are actively seeking reliable partners with strong manufacturing capabilities, proven quality standards, and long-term vision. Papoutsanis possesses many of these characteristics, making it a particularly interesting company for future collaboration opportunities.

What I appreciate most during visits like this is the opportunity to meet the people behind the products. Successful international cooperation is not built solely on factories, technology, or contracts. It is built on trust, mutual understanding, and the willingness to create value together across cultures and markets.

I would like to thank the Papoutsanis team for their warm hospitality, their openness in sharing insights about their operations, and the constructive discussions regarding future possibilities.

I look forward to continuing the dialogue and exploring how stronger business bridges can be built between Greece and China in the personal care, cosmetics, hospitality, and consumer products sectors.

The future of international cooperation belongs to companies that combine tradition, innovation, and a global mindset—and today I had the opportunity to witness exactly that.
